Our Story
After working in the family’s successful restaurant business for many years, Melinda and Jamie McColgan turned their shared passion for baking into a boutique cookie company.
The mother and daughter team tied on their aprons in 2021 and spent several months developing and testing their recipes with the help of a culinary expert friend. They used only the finest ingredients and crafted everything from scratch until the cookies were perfected.
In celebration of their love for Jamie’s baby daughter, Harlee, and their commitment to creating something special to bring joy to others, they named the business after her and launched Sweet Harlee’s Cookies in 2022. To the delight of their existing customers, they began selling their signature cookies (Guava, Hearty Oats, Classic Chocolate Chip and Campfire) in their El Segundo, California restaurant Kings Cove.
As their business continues to grow in their beloved Southern California community, Harlee gleefully enjoys time in the kitchen with her mother and grandmother as the official cookie taster. Though she does not realize it now, one day she will be proud to be a part of the McColgan legacy and its generations-long tradition of striving for excellence with hard work, dedication, and abundant humor as the family’s main ingredients in life.
